Beyond Incompetent

Over the years, I’ve hired hundreds of people.  I’ve hired entry-level interns, I’ve hired senior-level engineers and I’ve hired executives.  But, I have never hired a PhD.

When I hire people, I try to find people who, depending on the role, can either do things or get things done.  Someone with a PhD can typically do neither.  People who’ve reached the doctorate level know a lot, there’s no doubt about that.  But they usually only know a lot about one specific thing.  And not much more.

Because they’ve spent so much time in academia, people with a doctorate oftentimes don’t have any of the other skills required to work in the real world.  Even though they know a lot about that one specific thing, they don’t know how to actually do anything with their knowledge.

So, if I see on someone’s resume that they have a PhD, I don’t give them a second look.  In all but a few very specific cases, having PhD is, in my opinion, a liability and not an asset.

I don’t hire PhD’s because, more often than not, they have been educated beyond their level of competence.

I’ve also voted for hundreds of people over the years.

When someone is elected, the only thing that proves is that they were able to get more votes than their competition.  The ability to get elected really only means that the candidate, or the candidate’s team, is better at marketing than the people he or she is running against.

That’s all it means.

Getting elected doesn’t mean that they possess superior (or any) intelligence or that they are somehow the wisest person in the room.  It doesn’t mean that they are in any way qualified to do the job they were elected to do.  It only means that they were able to convince more people to vote for them than the other guy.

Looking at all the crazy decisions made by politicians on both sides of the aisle, it’s obvious that a lot of our “leaders” have been elected beyond their level of competence.

What I mean is, they are very good at a very specific thing: getting votes.  But, once they have those votes, they don’t know what to do with them.  Furthermore, having more votes doesn’t mean you have the skills to either do things or get things done.  Both of which I tend to think would be valuable for a politician to have.

So, we end up with someone like AOC who ran for Congress while waiting tables.  Don’t misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with waiting tables.  But, her previous experiences didn’t prepare her to be a member of the United States Congress.  Not even a little bit.

AOC doesn’t have the knowledge, skills, emotional maturity or experiences necessary to be successful in the position she now holds.  Yet somehow, she was able to get more votes than her opponent.  While she may be very good at marketing, that in no way indicates she is capable of doing the job she was elected to do.  She has been elected beyond her level of competence.   Which is why nearly every day we see her say crazy shit that’s even more crazy than the crazy shit she said the day before.

Now look at Joe Biden.  While it’s true that he has tons of experience, it is also obvious that he has dementia and is rapidly losing his mind.  Everyone can see that. His experiences mean little-to-nothing to us because they no longer mean anything to him.  A few years ago, he might have made an OK president.  But, those years have passed and he no longer has the mental capability to be the leader of the free world.  Yet somehow, he was able to get (at least he made it appear like he got) more votes than his opponent.  He has been elected beyond his level of competence.

We can’t blame Joe Biden for blindly signing Executive Orders, killing American jobs, and cozying up to China and Iran because he’s not competent to be held accountable for his actions.  We can’t blame him for everything he’s doing to make the United States weaker on the world stage.  The people we can blame are the people pulling his strings.

Somewhere, someone has a plan for this country.  But it’s not Joe Biden.  We may not know exactly who it is, but we can be sure it’s not Joe.  Because he is no longer capable of holding such complex thoughts.  He is incompetent.

Whoever is the architect of the master plan, they obviously don’t have the best interest of the United States in mind.  Nearly every move made since Joe Biden took office appears to have been made to weaken our country.  Killed jobs, lost energy independence, attacking our right to free speech and sending troops to Syria are just a few examples.  None of those things will keep America great.  But all of those things will hurt America.

Even if destroying the country isn’t the intent, it will be the result.  So, either the people manipulating Joe Biden are incompetent, or their doing exactly what they intend.

Maybe they’re beyond incompetent.  Maybe they’re just evil.
