Protect the Brand

I had an epiphany. People object to the phrase “All Lives Matter” because they want to protect the BLM brand. Here’s my proposal. Not quite as catchy as their phrase but they can hardly complain about the sentiment. If they do then they’re racist. 🙂

Priorities

The Washington Post maintains a database of all police-related shootings. It’s the database nearly everyone uses when quoting statistics about police violence. However, it only contains shootings. So, for example, George Floyd isn’t in their database. According to their data, there have been two instances since May 25th (George Floyd’s

Precious Lives

All life isn’t precious. Maybe a more accurate statement is that all lives aren’t equally precious. Don’t get mad at me. I came to that conclusion by watching you. I’ll explain. The argument is that we should all wear masks and social distance because we need to prevent the spread

Acceptable Deaths

The argument I keep hearing about why we should wear masks goes something like this: “You don’t wear a mask to protect yourself. You wear a mask to protect others.” Consider this:According to the CDC, between 24,000 and 62,000 people are estimated to have died from the flu in the

Painting Rooms

When my son was 3 or 4 years old, we decided to paint his bedroom. He was watching us paint and said, “I hope we don’t do this very often”. I asked why. His reply, “Because every time we paint the room, it gets a little bit smaller.” Wow. That’s

Cult of Democrats

As you all know, I like things to make sense. Recently, I’ve been trying to understand why people would vote for any Democrat this fall. I couldn’t understand why seemingly smart people would abandon fact, logic and reason to blindly support the Democratic Party. I spent a long time pondering

Color Blind

There are five black families that live on my street. I know because I counted them. A couple of days ago, I was talking with one of my neighbors and she mentioned that she didn’t really get what people mean when they talk about being color blind to race. I
