PonkaBlog Shorts #4

You can also listen to this article on The PonkaBlog Podcast!

It’s time for another episode of PonkaBlog Shorts. Today you get four short articles instead of one long one. It’s the same amount of snark, just in bite-sized chunks.

Alec Baldwin

Let’s start with a pop quiz.  If someone hands you a gun and tells you it’s unloaded, what’s the first thing you do?  If you know anything about gun safety, you’ll know that the first thing you do is assume that the gun is loaded.

What you do next depends on how competent you are with firearms.  If you know what you’re doing, the next step would be to verify for yourself that the gun isn’t loaded.  If you’re not all that comfortable around guns another acceptable action would be to just put the gun down, pointed away from yourself and others.  And then, ask someone who knows what they’re doing to take control of the weapon.

An answer that is NEVER acceptable is to point the gun at something, or someone, and pull the trigger.  Even when you know the gun is empty.

I don’t care if my wife handed me a gun and told me it was empty.  I would still check for myself.  And she’d do the same if I handed a gun to her.  Because that’s what responsible people do.

That’s something Alec Baldwin should have known, and probably would know if he hadn’t spent all his time complaining about guns instead of trying to learn something about them.

Real guns have no place on a movie set.  The only reason to use a weapon capable of firing on a production set is for authenticity.  You want authenticity?  How about starting with this?  Semi-automatic handguns don’t go “click”.  If you’re using a Glock or other semi-automatic handgun, and you run out of bullets, the slide locks back.  Pulling the trigger after that does absolutely nothing. It doesn’t even make a sound.

I’ve seen exactly one TV show that has done this correctly.  Most of them just dub in the sound of a trigger being pulled repeatedly.  That’s not how real guns work.  They might as well be using a plastic gun with an orange tip on the end of the barrel because that’s nearly as real as a semi-automatic that goes “click”.

Kyle Rittenhouse

Why in the world is Kyle Rittenhouse on trial?  I mean, come on man!  Anyone who has watched the videos knows that Kyle ran for his life before he was forced to stop and fight for it.  I can’t believe that the prosecution is trying a case that is so obviously a case of self-defense.

Even their own witnesses are proving how ridiculous their case is.  Especially the star witness for the prosecution, Gage Grosskreutz.  While he tried to dance around the issue, he was forced to admit under cross-examination that he was pointing his gun at Kyle before Kyle pulled the trigger and blew Mr. Grosskreutz’s right bicep to smithereens.

If I still lived in Wisconsin, I’d be pissed at the amount of money that is being wasted with this dog and pony show.

Today, we found out that the FBI had a surveillance drone in the air above where the incident took place.  Why wasn’t that little tidbit of information made available months ago?  It would have completely neutered the mainstream media’s misrepresentation of the facts about this incident, and the open wound that is Kenosha, Wisconsin would have healed a long time ago.

In most, if not all jurisdictions, the use of deadly force isn’t allowed until you’ve exhausted all other possibilities.  If you can remove yourself from a situation without using your weapon, you must do so.

Kyle Rittenhouse was trying to remove himself from the people chasing him.  But they continued to chase him.  And then someone got killed.  I for one am glad that the someone that got killed wasn’t Kyle Rittenhouse.

Gavin Newsom

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, appears to have disappeared.  With great fanfare and in front of the press, he received his COVID booster shot on October 27th.  And he hasn’t been seen since.  He also cancelled his trip to Glasgow for the Climate Summit where he was supposed to be a speaker.  If you live in California, you’ll know that Gavin can’t get enough of standing in front of a camera.  So, for him to suddenly back out of a chance to be on the world stage…well…that certainly is out of character to say the least.

The rumor is that Newsom had a severe adverse reaction to the drug, perhaps Bells Palsy or Guillain-Barre syndrome.  Either of which would make him look less than pretty-boy-perfect in front of the camera.

The “official stance” is that he’s taking some time off to handle family issues.  But his wife found enough time to send out a tweet defending his honor, or lack thereof.  If there is truly nothing to see, then why not let us see it?  Why not put ol’ Gavin in front of a camera so that we can all see that he’s OK and just taking some time off to work on his tan?

This is like the election audits everywhere where Democrats put up roadblock after roadblock to stop people from seeing things that supposedly aren’t there.  There is no reason for Gavin to self-isolate.  This would be a perfect opportunity for him to face the camera, with everyone’s attention firmly on him, and demonstrate how “safe and effective” the vackseens really are.

Since Newsom is passing up yet another chance to get free publicity, I suspect that there’s something to the rumors.  If Gavin finally pops up after weeks of hiding appearing as healthy as a horse, I’m not going to believe that he wasn’t hiding something.

United Airlines

United Airlines allows employees to file for medical or religious exemptions for their forced vacksination program.  That’s good for the employees.  The bad news is that a federal judge just ruled that United can place those exempted workers on unpaid, indefinite leave.  Tell me that’s not coercion.

U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman said the plaintiffs hadn’t met their burden to prove that they would suffer irreparable harm from United’s policies.

Let me see if I have this straight.  A federal judge has decided that being without a salary for an indefinite period of time isn’t for certain going to irreparably harm someone?  That’s ridiculous.  Or maybe he meant that the plaintiffs hadn’t proven that they would be irreparably harmed by the vackseens?  Isn’t that the whole point?  That’s like allowing an airbag manufacturer to continue to sell airbags that send shrapnel everywhere because consumers haven’t proven that they’d for sure be killed by said shrapnel, because they haven’t yet been hit by it yet.

I think it makes more sense to make the drug manufacturers prove that their product won’t hurt anyone.  In fact, anyone who forces someone to take an injection should assume all responsibility for any damage that comes from the injection.  If litigation should occur, and it will, the burden of proof should be on the people putting the stupid vackseen mandates in place.
