I probably have the world’s largest collection of anti-Trump-decorated stones. If not the largest, then at least one of the largest.
Earlier this summer, I noticed a stone next to a sidewalk in a local park. It was painted front and back and was covered in anti-Trump messages. This particular rock had, “No Kings”, “8647” and “Foxtrot Delta Tango” written on it.
The artwork was about the quality you’d get if I painted it. So…not very good.
I took one look at it and thought to myself, “Hey look! A free stone!”. Not being one to turn down something free, I picked it up and put it in my pocket.
A few days later, I found another one. Over the course of a week, I ended up pocketing four anti-Trump stones. I guess the stones themselves probably weren’t anti-Trump. I’m sure they were very fine stones. But the messages painted on them were definitely anti-Trump.
What Kind of Person…
I wondered about the person who painted them. Off the top of my head, and with no information at all to prove or disprove my theory, I decided they were painted by a woman. No offense ladies, but it just doesn’t seem like something a man would do.
Not long after I added the last stone to my collection, I discovered where the person who painted the stones lives. There’s a house in my neighborhood that has similar artwork drawn in chalk on the driveway and sidewalk in front of it.
Of course, this is just a guess too and it might not be the home of the artist. But in the smallish neighborhood I live in, it would be too much of a coincidence to have one person decorating rocks and a different person decorating a sidewalk using the same words and style.
The next conclusion/assumption I made is that the artist is either a child or an adult with special needs. I can see a normal adult painting stones…maybe…but it’s difficult for me to imagine one using chalk to decorate a driveway. Normal adults just don’t do that. It’s too much work.
I could be wrong. But I don’t think I am.
Learned Behavior
Then I started wondering about how a kid, or a mentally challenged adult, would get the ideas that were painted on the stones.
Obviously, someone taught them. Now, to be fair, the stones were covered with catchy slogans, so they didn’t need to understand the meaning behind the words. They could be just copying something they heard somewhere else.
For example, Foxtrot Delta Tango is a not-so-clever not-so-shorthand way of referring to the phrase “Fuck Donald Trump”. And TACO is an acronym for “Trump Always Chickens Out”, which is what the Left thinks, or thought, about Trump’s approach to tariffs. You know, the same tariffs that have pretty much changed the world.
So, it’s possible that someone just told their kid, or mentally challenged adult, to write these things. And they painted the rocks without knowing what it meant.
But one of the things written on the driveway was F-U-C-K-D-J-T in Morse code. Which means either someone provided the code or at least explained what Morse code is.
Something else that was written on the sidewalk was Resist H8, which is a sort-of-shorthand for “Resist Hate”, surrounded by a bunch of hearts. I found that ironic because of all the hateful things written right next to it.
It’s sort of like saying, “Fred, I mean this in the nicest possible way…fuck you.”
Acquired TDS
I’d say it’s unlikely that whoever did the painting and chalking didn’t have at least some idea of what the words they were using meant.
And that’s sad.
Because if it is a kid doing the artwork, their parent/guardian is teaching them to hate, while at the same time pretending that they’re not.
In my experience, as a rule, kids and mentally challenged adults are typically nice people. The exception to the rule is a kid I met years ago who I could tell, even before he was five years old, was obviously going to grow up to be a psychopath.
So, except for the young psychopath I just mentioned, it’s unlikely that a kid would hate anyone.
Unless they were taught to hate.
And it’s even more unlikely that a kid would develop a case of TDS.
Unless they were specifically taught to hate Donald Trump.
I May be Mistaken
Like I said before, all this is just a guess, and I could be wrong. It might not be a kid with a love of art who is simply mimicking a hatred of Donald Trump. It might be an adult with full-blown TDS.
The latest additions to the driveway artwork includes “Fuck You ICE” and “Fuck You Nazi” written in Spanish and XIII VI XL VII which is 8647 in Roman numerals. Combine that with the Morse code messages and we’re reaching a level of sophistication, if I can even call it that, that may be beyond the reach of a child.
But even that’s an interesting thing. I don’t understand how someone could be so passionate about a cause that they paint rocks and chalk their sidewalk with anti-Trump messages but then communicate those messages in codes that most people can’t, or won’t bother to, read.
Normal adults just don’t do that. Maybe that’s the key, a “normal” adult wouldn’t do that.
The Lesser of Two Evils
All this is just conjecture on my part based on a handful of observations and too much free time on my hands. But even so, I see only two possible scenarios. Neither of which is great.
Worst case, I’m living not too far away from someone with an irrational hatred of Donald Trump, and that person is instilling into impressionable minds a hatred of someone who is likely the best president we’ve ever had.
The best case is that I’m living not too far away from someone with an irrational hatred of Donald Trump, and the emotional maturity of a 10-year-old.
