Live and Let Live – Part II

In my last episode, I talked about the Left’s go-to argument that protecting the rights of “trans” people isn’t causing issues for anyone else.  More specifically, that nobody on the Left is asking anyone else to live the way they live.

If you missed that episode (193 Live and Let Live – Part I) I suggest starting there.  This will still make sense if you don’t, it will just make more sense if you do.  I talked about the ridiculous posters that California requires employers to distribute to all employees.  Specifically, the one about “transgender and gender non-conforming” people.

Happy to be XY

Before I continue, let me just say for the record that I’m glad I’m not a woman.  Because no matter how difficult things are these days for an old white guy, they’re a thousand times worse for women when it comes to dealing with this woke bullshit.

And that brings me to another ridiculous statement displayed on the poster.  It reads:

“All employees have a right to safe and appropriate restroom and locker room facilities.”

In general, I don’t have a problem with that.  I think we can all agree that a woman should feel safe in facilities reserved for women.  The thing is that this statement wasn’t meant to protect women.  Because it was on the “transgender and gender non-conforming” poster.

And therein lies the problem.

I agree with the words “safe” and “appropriate”.  I just don’t agree with the context in which they’re being used.

It seems to me that the appropriate restroom for a man to use is the men’s restroom.  It is NOT appropriate for a man, however dressed, to use a private space reserved for women.

I don’t know, it might just be me but that seems like it should be an easy concept for anyone to grasp.

Now, let’s focus on the word “safe”.

Perceived Danger is Not Real Danger

We’ve all heard the very true stories of women being attacked in a women’s restroom by a man pretending to be a woman.  The risk is real.  We don’t really know how many times this happens, but the number is greater than zero.  Each of which could have been prevented if the man simply wasn’t allowed in the restroom in the first place.

There is no possible way that there aren’t women who feel unsafe with a man in the restroom with them, regardless of the clothes he’s wearing, how long his hair is, or how much makeup he has spackled on his face.

These women feel unsafe because there’s a real possibility that they are unsafe.  You can’t judge a book by its cover, and you can’t tell if a man isn’t a rapist simply because he’s decided it’s appropriate for him to invade women’s safe spaces.  It wasn’t that long ago when that was considered one of the biggest indicators that the man in question was up to no good.

California, as well as other states, put the “safety” of gender-dysphoric men above women.  Notice I didn’t say “cis” women or “biological” women.  That’s because there is no such thing as a “trans” woman.

Therefore, there is no reason to put any type of qualifier in front of the word “woman”.  There are, however, gender-dysphoric men.  And, of course, men who are only pretending to be gender dysphoric.

Grow a pair (again)

I realize that a gender dysphoric dude dressed as a woman has a risk of having the snot beaten out of him in a men’s restroom.  But how many times have you heard of that happening?  I’m sure it has happened at least once, but I can’t think of a single example.

Regardless, it’s much more likely that a woman will be assaulted in a women’s restroom by a man pretending to be a woman than it is that a man dressed as a woman will be harmed by other men while in the men’s restroom.  Will he be mocked?  Sure.  But being mocked, however uncomfortable, isn’t dangerous.

Your feelings have no impact on your safety

One of the problems we have is that the Left has redefined the word “safe” to be synonymous with the word “uncomfortable”.  However, “safe” isn’t something you can choose to be.  It’s not a choice or a feeling and it’s not subjective.  You’re either safe, or you’re not.  You’re either in danger, or you’re not.

“Uncomfortable” is subjective and is a feeling.  If you feel uncomfortable, you are uncomfortable.

The poster said that people should be safe, it didn’t say they had to feel safe.  Because nobody can force someone to feel a certain way.

But, according to Liberals, if you feel unsafe, you are unsafe.

That logic isn’t surprising since it comes from the same people who say that if you feel like a woman, you are a woman.

Nope.  No danger here.

I saw a video last week of a woman who was obviously trying to look like a dude.  Except she wasn’t trying very hard.  About the only effort she put into it was to have short hair.

She was in the UK talking to a reporter about the new laws recently passed that finally, and specifically, define what a woman is.  The woman being interviewed was fine while she spouted the typical progressive talking points.

Then the reporter started asking her questions.  They weren’t particularly hard questions, but they were based on common sense.  As you know, if you’re a liberal, that simply won’t do.

After a minute or so of being asked fairly straightforward questions, the woman being interviewed said that her pulse was racing, she was having trouble breathing, and she was sweating.  She then declared that she felt unsafe in the studio and abruptly got up and left.

Unsafe?  Really?  Feeling unsafe and being unsafe are two entirely different things.  What she really meant was, worst case, she felt “uncomfortable”.  There was no danger in the studio.  The only thing she was in danger of was looking like an idiot.  Which happened even after her hasty retreat.  Or, more accurately, because of it.

She claims she feels unsafe, so the left says that means she is unsafe.  So, we’re all expected to change how we speak and even ignore basic truths just so we don’t make someone feel uncomfortable.

The point is…

Now let’s get back to my main point.  That is, of course we’re being forced to act like other people, specifically gender dysphoric people, and the idiots that support them.  To say differently, you’d either have to be a special kind of stupid or just plain lying.

Like I said in Part I, I can’t think of a single thing that’s been implemented to advance the “transgender and gender non-conforming” agenda that doesn’t force the rest of us to act in ways we’d rather not.

Whether it’s because of employment laws, or men in women’s rest rooms, or boys competing against girls in sports, or preferred pronouns, or changing the definitions of words that have very specific meanings, or a myriad of other ways, those of us with an abundance of common sense are being forced daily to do things we don’t want to do.

I applaud Texas and the U.K. for taking a stand for women, and a stand for the rest of us who realize that just because you claim to be something, it doesn’t mean that you are the thing you claim to be.

I hope they’re just the first examples of things turning back toward a world where common sense prevails, and the rights of the vast majority aren’t trampled on just so someone else’s feelings don’t get hurt.

Because the rights of women, real women, should take priority over the feelings of people who are merely pretending to be women.

From a safety perspective, it’s a no-brainer.  At least it should be.  Since…well…since forever, we’ve prioritized the safety of women over the safety of men.

The saying used to be, “women and children first”.

But not these days.  These days it’s dysphoric men first, while women and children tie for a distant second.
