Back in early 2021, just after January 20th actually, my retirement savings took a dive. It dropped 30 to 40 percent. The reason? Joe Biden took office and immediately started destroying our economy.
But why? Well, that’s the thing, no one really knows. Nobody in the Biden administration bothered to tell us what the plan was or, for that matter, if they even had one.
Energy projects were killed, inflation skyrocketed, investments tanked, and nobody knew why. Well, that’s not quite true. We knew why things sucked. We knew Biden and his team were fiddling with things. But we didn’t understand what the end goal was.
To be fair, Biden did campaign on the promise to “Build Back Better”. But things were already pretty good under Trump. And “Build Back” sort of implies that there’s something that needed building back. But there wasn’t.
Before Biden could build back anything, let alone make it better, he had to have something that needed fixing. So, he broke things.
Again, to be fair, my investments did eventually recover. But it took three and a half years. So, he didn’t “Build Back Better”, he built back the same.
Well, sort of.
Still Under Water
Because while my investments were creeping back to where they were, we had record setting inflation, and the cost of living was getting higher. On average, things cost 30% more now than they did before whoever was running the autopen started fucking with things.
So, he didn’t actually build back the same. Because the buying power of my retirement savings is only about 70% of what it was before my balance dropped through the floor.
Not only that, I lost three and a half years of growth. So, all things considered, even with the same ending balance, I’m probably still down about 50% from where I could have been.
Did we complain? You bet we did. Every non-Liberal was screaming about this. And rightfully so. We had no idea if the havoc Biden’s administration was wreaking on most Americans, was by design, an unintended consequence or a horrible mistake.
We still don’t know.
But did my Liberal friends complain? Nope. Not once.
…at a $10 whorehouse
About half of us realized when Biden was spending money like a drunken sailor that the only possible outcome was runaway inflation. Anyone with half a brain will understand that you can’t just print money because…ahhh…maybe that’s the problem.
My Liberal friends felt the same pain I did, but they didn’t complain. They suffered in silence.
Well, not really silence, because while they may not be complaining about the economy, they were bitching about white privilege and the misogynistic patriarchy of white colonialism, or something equally as silly.
Oh yeah, they also complained about how not calling a dude “her” should somehow be considered an assault. You know, crazy shit like that.
Recently, I’ve started to see social media “friends” post complaints about Trump. One guy who actually is a friend said that our economy is in tatters and our allies hate us. And that anyone who voted for Trump ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Really?
Hate is a Four-Letter Word
First of all, nobody hates us. Certainly not our allies. The heads of state of every other country on earth are looking at what Trump’s doing and trying to figure out how to turn it into an advantage for themselves. Or at least minimize the risk to their country.
And that’s it. Period. They may publicly bitch and complain, but they don’t hate us. They need us too much to hate us.
In fact, there is only one group that hates America. And that’s radical Muslim extremists. Except nobody on the left will admit that. Because apparently acknowledging that there are Muslims out there who are bat-shit crazy is considered racism. Or, maybe that’s religism, or religionism. Who the fuck knows anymore?
Trump’s international moves aren’t changing a thing about how other countries feel about us. But his crackdown on Iran and militant radical Muslims extremists is.
Well, that’s technically not true either. Bat-shit crazy Muslims extremists already hate America with a fiery passion as hot as the heat of a thousand suns. So, tacking on another sun or two isn’t going to make any difference.
So, for all practical purposes, nothing Trump is doing is making a noticeable change in how other countries feel about us.
Nothing Random About It
Now, about the economy. It’s not in tatters. Trump is trying to fix the damage done by decades of mismanagement. And that can’t happen overnight. Is it going to hurt? Yup. There will be some pain. Will things get better? That’s the plan.
I know that’s the plan because Trump told us what his plan is. He campaigned by promising to do the very thing he’s doing. He told us he was going to increase tariffs. He told us why. And he told us what was going to happen.
That’s why this past week when I saw my retirement savings take another hit, I didn’t panic. Because I trust that this President knows what he’s doing. I’m confident that he isn’t just doing random shit and hoping for the best. And I’m certain that nobody is pushing their own agenda behind his back.
Trump is doing the things he’s doing because he has a goal. And, unlike with Biden, I know what Trump’s end goal is. Because he told us what that is too.
Every single move Trump makes is designed to do one thing, and that’s to Make America Great Again. It’s what we elected him to do.
And so, I’m not going to wig out just because my savings dropped a bit. Because it’ll eventually recover. It’s already started to bounce back.
Even if it takes a couple of years for my savings to get back to the level it was before it will be a small price for me to pay if it helps get America back on track. I have no doubt the end result will be worth the temporary pain.
Proud, Not Ashamed.
Now, on to my friend’s last claim. He believes that anyone who voted for Trump should be ashamed of themselves.
Why? We’re getting exactly what we asked for. Donald Trump has not done a single thing different than the promises he made to us during his campaign. If anything, he has exceeded expectations.
None of us, not even one of the folks who voted for him, could have imagined the speed at which he and his team are getting things done. And that’s even with Democrats and the Liberal judiciary trying to block every step he makes.
It is absolutely amazing that he’s accomplished what he has in so little time. I’m proud of what he’s been able to do so far and proud to say I voted for him.
There is, for me anyway, a real difference between the dip in my investments during Biden’s failed term and the similar dip during Trump’s second. The difference is that I trust Donald Trump to make things right.
It should be no surprise to anyone when the stock market drops a bit, or if prices go up for a little while. Nor should anyone panic if other countries are forced to scramble to keep up with Trump while he tries to right wrongs that have been accumulating for nearly 50 years.
Because what we’re seeing isn’t an unintended consequence, or a mistake.
It’s all part of the plan.
